About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Lieberman, known on stage as Rachel Rose, I’m a Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter with over 10 years of experiencing singing, performing, and writing original music. I studied psychology at the University of Texas at Austin, specializing in child development.

Since moving to New York in 2018, I’ve had the privilege of performing at venues like Bowery Ballroom, Brooklyn Bowl, and PEAK Performances at Montclair State University. I sang the National Anthem at a sold-out MSG Rangers game, appeared on The Tonight Show’s Battle of the Instant Songwriters with Jimmy Fallon, and was an official SXSW Artist in 2024. I was a judge favorite on NPR’s Tiny Desk Contest in 2023, and my original song, “Remember Me” was recognized by American Songwriter as a top 1% submission of 2023.

Marrying my passion for music/performance with my background in psychology and child development has given me a unique edge as a teacher. I've always believed that the psychology of learning is just as important as picking up the instrument itself. In my experience, combining positive reinforcement, patience, and different communication styles are key to getting kids genuinely excited about playing.

I've heard too many stories of one-size-fits-all lesson plans, or forced practice sessions that drain the joy out of music altogether. My goal is to make sure that every child leaves my lessons feeling supported, seen, and excited about their instrument. I will never copy and paste my lessons because no two kids learn the same way.

Whether you're picking up the pen, guitar, or piano for the first time, or looking to take your craft to the next level, I'd love to help you reach your goals

  • Breaking the Block

My student Sarah had a passion for songwriting but didn't know where to start. Writing chords and lyrics simultaneously felt overwhelming. Since working together, we’ve found a system that works for her. We’ve developed a toolkit of techniques that get her creative juices flowing and now songs are coming together faster than ever before.

  • Fretting the fretboard

My student John loves playing guitar, but struggled to see how the notes on the neck related to one another. Feeling stuck in certain areas of the fretboard left him with a sense that his progress had stalled. Since working together, John has expanded his fretboard knowledge and learned to apply technical exercises to songs he actually loves. He's now back to feeling genuinely excited every time he picks up the guitar.

  • Finding Your Voice

My student Caroline always had a passion for singing and wanted to take her abilities to the next level. Over our time working together, she has grown more confident performing in front of others, explored a variety of styles, and finally found dedicated weekly time for something she had always loved but never prioritized.

  • Little Learners

My student Jill (age 9) has always dreamed of learning piano and needed a patient instructor to help guide her first steps in taking on a new instrument. It has been such a joy watching her progress, picking up chords and songs, while making sure we have a blast during our lessons.
